Escalate Media, LLC Founding Partner, Lee Dodd, Interviewed By Entrepreneur’s Web Publication, Retireat21.com
Dayton, TX – This month’s issue of Retireat21.com, the well-respected online publication for entrepreneurs, contains an extensive interview with Escalate Media founding partner Lee Dodd. The interview, conducted by Retireat21.com’s founder Michael Dunlop, focuses on the structure of the Escalate Media website network and how the organization is monetized.
Dodd answers questions about the various websites in the network, their audiences, monetizing web-based communities and shares some of what he has learned as an Internet entrepreneur.
Lee Dodd comments about their online magazines, “Escalate Media has been in business since 2006. My business partner is David Adams. We currently own and maintain 17 forum-based websites all of which are monetized by selling advertising and products. We plan on adding more.” Escalate Media’s website holdings fall into two channels: Family and Technology. The Family Channel’s largest sites include DiapperSwappers.com and BabyUniverisy.com for parents, and Menewsha.com for young women and teens. The Technology Channel has SprintUsers.com catering to cell-phone users and WebMaster-Talk.com provides resources and blogs for website owners and operators.
Dunlop asked a number of questions related to what Dodd has learned from his years as an Internet entrepreneur. Dodd mused, “…I have to love what I do in order to be successful at it. So make sure to pick a subject that inspires you and that makes you jump out of bed in the morning and head for work. It’s unpleasant and unmotivating to spend your time each day facing a subject you don’t care about.” Furthermore he commented that you must, “Believe in yourself and your ideas, but don’t be blind to reality… Never fear asking questions… Pray. Inspiration often comes in the quiet moments. And if you don’t pray, meditate.”
Lee also offers this advice about building an advertising network, “Brand. If you plan to sell advertising know that the agencies and the companies they work with expect and need the sites that they purchase ads on to be brands in their own rights.”
